Two things...
ONE, I like what I like, and I am a very tough judge. And I'm very old-school, and thus very biased. I am, in a way, a sort of gaming Luddite, who wants to go just so far, and then no farther.
TWO, I am generally of the opinion...and this has also generally proved true - the more hype a game gets, the lousier that the actual game is...IF IT WAS SO GODDAM GOOD, IT WOULD NOT NEED ALL THE HYPE!!
Ok, I lied, three things - last but not least, if these companies and such want us to shell out umpteens of bucks on an untried game, the least they could do is let us TRY them first, for free, so we don't waste our bucks on games that suck.
Me, I'd rather go for the old stuff that I already know...and thus, I know it doesn't suck.
The last thing I want to do is spend fifty hard-earned bucks to get some game that it later turns out that I don't like.
I'd rather just decry it as crud than cough up fifty bucks and try it. When they let me play for free for a while, first, I might be more inclined to give newer games a closer look.
