I don't' think you really understand the world around you. Its as if you think if one isn't doing what YOU do in the media, NOT IN A CUBE, then life isn't worth living!
We all live in cubies because most of us are pretty parochial. Me, my PC may be in a cubie but i live that third of my life in my PC. I only SIT in the cubie. People in cubies write all the software that puts other people out of a job.
I am mindful that its my job to make others jobless by making tasks automated. Like what runs radio. What buys spots for companies which can afford it... which you're client(s) clearly can't.
You're still doing it manually. You service the crumbs, I expect. its okay, crumbs are good if they can support you. I'm good with that. That might surprise you. I don't want you to fail. I just think it would be better if you'd 86 the arrogance! I don't think you're winning much respect in this dialogue with me. I conclude you need to switch head drugs. I'm not sure what radio station people you contact think.
Maybe you really do have a rep that you're not as important than your account list would dictate. I don't know. Don't care. Don't care how long you've been in, or what letters are after your name.
My dad was an ad agency guy, he puttered at it mostly. We ate because my mom worked a clerical job and he was a military reservist. So I learned a long time ago that a business card and an inflated resume is no substitute for a six or seven figure Form 1040.
I'd be surprised your that successful because you spend too much time dickin with ME. Successful guys just don't have time for rooms like this. Specially entrepreneurs.
Me, I'm a salary guy, gear down, on final to get on the public dole. What I make is all gravy. I don't' care if my high school peers would call me successful, I like the money I collect, I enjoy creating programs that help the company I'm working with. Would I rather be spinning records on a play list someone else hands me?
No.
Would I rather pick a topic, grab a photographer and go do a story on anything I want and have it on the six o'clock news? Yes. But my time's up for that. TV doesn't' do that anymore, won't pay for it and I didn't like it enough to stand in front of crime tape at ten PM talking about tonight's ghetto killing. That wasn't news. Local TV news is long gone. As is great personality radio!
Actually I would NEVER have wanted to be a salesman selling anything... whether radio or TV time, or medical equipment at a high salary, or ships or companies or cars or insurance or anything. Im sure some people just love that. Koo. Not for me.
I dont' know why you have such a jones about cubie life. I manage to get out of my cubie. What I do there entertains me and pays me well enough to make it worth my while.
You're continual criticism of where my desk is doesn't' make me feel bad, I don't know why you bother. I expect I still make well more than you do, but even if I don't, so what? I have more dough than I require. How much is enough?
Do you have a family? Do you still live with them? Do you have a dog? What do you do besides surf in here? How old are you? Twenty years ago I was going to T BALL GAMES. dance lessons. Worlds of Fun. On trips.
Currently, I'm kicking back. I'm not unhappy. Waitin to see who wins tonight's elections. If you have a better deal going, well good for you, Jim.
have fun. You may not respond tonight if its past your bedtime, but I'm sure you will have some flip comment to make in the morning.
Are you getting up an hour early because of daylight savings time, like I am? Aint it weird?
