You dont' hardly ever say anything in here, Jim. And these 'callouts' as you term them, well duh. I'm not a radio cheerleader tho I'm a listener and I predicted a lot of very unpopular stuff in here.
Ya know, this is a bittch room. Nobody gets praised in here except for guys best friends. You keep trying to come up with all kinds of stuff to convince me I'm unpopular, unworthy, yada yada.
Rman (that's my alter-ego) is a pot stirrer. I'm not in here to make friends, get a job, get free tickets or cheerlead for the industry. I get what I invite. I'm a type A guy, I'm a liberal and I like forensic contact sports.
You're not surprising me with anything I dont know. Besides, Im open and honest enough and use my consistent handle and I write a lot. That gives people who want to spar more ammunition. Youre fond of saying 'man up' or whatever. I've been practicing that in here for ten years!
Shit, I get yelled at for saying "I" too much, and then by others for being a know it all. I just say my opinion, what I like and what I don't. ANd I know enough about the business after a decade in it, to make my views fairly close to on target.
Where I miss is in the little shit that isn't important. Like you, actually. You've been out of it for a long time... tho maybe youre hanging around NPR or someplace. But you know stuff. And so do I.
Radio people are very competitive and very superficial, and very insecure. It's just part of the performing arts.
You may not FULLY understand (that is first hand) that because you're a number cruncher. But you know enough.
I don't play this 'mine's bigger than yours' shit like you do and so many others. I don't have a dog in this hunt.
People always say, 'oh radioman just wishes he was still in the biz', 'oh he couldnt cut it', oh he's just bitter he got fired.
You and some others know thats all speculation by guys who don't know me, and don't know shit. Talk about noise!! Heh heh.
The problem is, I suspect you're in here and youre serious. And youre playing to win. Because you have a dog in this hunt.
I don't really care, I'm here for the exercise, and to read an interesting post from time to time, and to do forensic combat. To write a few essays and if I like them, to rework them and post them on my site.
ANd to stay close enough to radio for old times sake. I noticed Ron Eric Taylor, a former nightside WHB jock I sorta knew but never talked to other than over the intercom 35 years ago.
I'm glad he's doign what he wants. I'd note that he's made two market moves since he and I worked across the glass...and for him both have been to smaller markets. That's really not so bad because this market sucks and always has. He was in doodah, and that was a good market, as you know, Jim. We were both there. I presume he was a PD which is good. He's still kinda mean spirited for a guy who doens't really know me and never did so I assume his skills arent being funny. I never saw a sign he grew a sense of humor. He surely didn't have it at WHB. He did his show by the numbers. Sigh.
To me, being an 'announcer' just following the log is like workin at the Ford plant. I'm way too right brained to sit still for that. I didn't. Even working with Phil Jay (who was a fun guy to work with as was Jeff) in the morning bored me and I left as soon as I could.
My media career didn't really mature until I got out of radio into TV. I did love that but we all know the media doesn't love any of us. We make turns. Some are good ones, some arent.
I dont know what happened to you at KFDI and don't wanna know. I really do wish you success and I respect your opinion on some things.
But you seem a little crazy too and mean spirited. That part of you, I don't like much. I'd like you as a friend but I think youre ego is way too inflated for that now.
So we'll banter and entertain the also-rans who stop in here. And amuse ourselves. But dont EVER think this is important to me.
It's not. But internet rooms are addictive and I admit being an addict. That's all though, bud.
Later, I really want to see MSNBC's take on yesterdays election now that I heard S&P&D's moronic spin on it.
bye for now.
