I am writing this to my fellow journalist who work with me at KCTV 5 but are silenced to speak the truth.
I realize true journalism as we thought it would be back in the old days has died for the majority of us who still care.
I however feel that regardless of what television news has become we should still be treated with dignity and respect and at least the thought that most of us have intelligence. We are going down quickly here at KCTV 5 due to our poor direction and lack of upper management skills. We have some real talent working here but they are stomped upon for there quest to present legitimate news. Most of us here are scared to even speak up as our news director leads us down this path. We remain silent because we fear losing our jobs. We have had many people positions terminated recently due to downsizing. We see the lack of quality and feel embarrassed with there lack of journalism yet we have to keep giving them there idea of news so we can have employment. Our news Director has been out to lunch until we received a new General manager recently but now she decides to take an active roll. She has came out swinging the bat now as if she was in the game all along yet she still has her eyes closed and is going to take many of us out because she doesn't have any idea what she is doing and wants to pretend she has been in the game all along with the new GM watching behind her. She has went from the lady in the office to the kid in school who will do whatever it takes to remain popular. I say let her win the congeniality contest with the news director just don't hurt those of us who have been working while she was having lunch with the girls everyday. We have lost a lot of respect in the community over the years with shoddy journalism but she and her juvenile ideas of how to make this thing we have called news is proving to take what was left of that away.
