I'd want to know why it wouldn't turn over before I did anything. Some simple things to check would be to pull the valve covers and check the valves. One may have dropped and has the engine locked up. Check the oil would be the easiest if it looks milky the block could be cracked or a head gasket could be blown. The spark plugs can also tell you things, If one is all beat up or has metal fines you will know which cylinder is the problem. Now to get you going GM has "Crate Engines" the cheapest is about 1200.00 plus instalation. No it would not be the hotest car around but it would be an option to get you going again. First suggestion is to get a mechanically inclined boyfriend that loves Vettes. Good Luck! Want to chat more drop me a note. PS I am the mechanic on my wifes 79. :-)
