I have a 1976 L82 4 spd. If your engine is the original L82, then it is a 4 bolt main with 76 cc heads. I like performance but like to keep the car as oringinal as possible. I did the top end of the engine over last spring. I installed a comp cams High Energy 268 cam, roller rockers, roller lifters, dual valve-springs, new seals and a dual timing chain. I also replaced the carb with a Holley street avenger on top of a Edlebrock performer. The throttle response was great, and the engine sounded real crisp. I am rebuilding the whole thing over ground up this coming spring. My palns are to go 0.030 over on the bore and mill the heads down 0.030. I am going to replace the stock dished pistons with flat pistons instead. Just remember to keep all the old castings and parts aside because that is what make the car worth money. For every mint L82 there are 10 rapped-up, blown-up, and destroyed by racing them. Try to keep the car together.
