The next Community CleanUp will be Sat, March 24 in the neighborhood around El Huerto Escolar. Stay tuned for further details!
Recycle items can be dropped off inside the lot just behind the primary school. Please be respectful of the neighbors, and lend a hand if you can in sorting/cleaning up while you're there. You will find the list of what is accepted below.
You can now leave your recyclables in a separate bags when you put out your trash in front of your home or business. If you have a bunch, please put separate the cardboard and the plastic. This will make it easier for the garbage workers to pick up, and deposit in their special wire bin at back of truck. Separating in this way will make it easier for students and volunteers to sort into the appropriate container at the recycle site.
WHAT CAN BE ACCEPTED CURRENTLY AND WHERE TO PUT IT:
(Signage coming soon!)
At the site you will see a "La Manzanilla Hermosa" banner, and another sign from the school about recycling hanging on the fence.
PLEASE do not leave trash! This will set back this important initiative!!
Place separately in the metal cages:
Plastic bottles (with or without lids) All plastic that contained water, soft drinks, juice, milk or cleaning products (e.g. chlorine, pinol, suavitel),
Plastic chairs, crates & buckets
NO cooking oil plastic bottles
NO plastic bags
NO waxy Jumex containers
In separate cage:
In large empty water bottle:
also, car batteries can be placed next to that bottle
The following items should each be put separately in one of the large "Jumbo" nylon cement bags:
1. Mixed Paper & Books
3. Mixed Metal (Scrap metal)
Tin (including tin beer & soft drink bottle caps)
dog food cans, cans from food, etc
*We are still waiting on the special container for glass recycling, which is currently being repaired. For safety reasons, this will be placed apart from the other materials. If you need to bring your glass bottles now, please place them along the wall, not near any of the wire baskets. We need to avoid injuries as best we can!
Anyone wanting to help out with this project or others of La Manzanilla Hermosa can contact me. Thanks!
