Taking dogs into Canada thru Calgary- the luck of the "draw".

Once you have claimed your dog/dogs, expect an automatic redirection to Customs to inspect 'paperwork', with no indication of how long it might take, except that you will "just have to take your turn". |
Then, depending on which officer eventually gets your file, you may have your paperwork AND dogs closely inspected for signs of illness or ticks and/or fleas. After which, you are directed to pay an "inspection fee" of $36 plus tax before being allowed to leave the area.
OR, meet with a sympathetic officer who vocally understands the discomfort your dog has/is going through, views your paperwork, and declares your dog looking very clean, then waives you thru without an inspection fee, and a cheery wish for the rest of your, by now, very late evening.
