the thing is, I have no idea. this is all academic, since I have no experience with such things. I've been hoping someone else would chime in who has at LEAST some basic knowledge of motors and electronics (which I don't).
At first glance, I'd say that it would need to be a servo rather than a spinning motor, so that you can have a defined motion of the weight from front to back and back to front. i.e. a perfect 180 degree rotation each time. Also, a servo would work better since it would be able to move a bigger weight than a simple spinning motor would, and at a much slower speed so that you would actually FEEL a forward-backward motion, rather than just another vibration. A spinning motor would just make it go around and around, creating another vibration feeling.
Now, can you get a servo strong enough to move a weight you can FEEL, but also small enough to fit inside a gun frame that's not too big and heavy to eliminate the motion? Also, can it run off 9v, or be supplied by a secondary power source?
To all this, I really don't know. I think it will basically take some experimenting, and that's not something I'm capable of, nor can I afford to do it.
Anybody else??
