All excellent points and for those board readers that have their own websites and/or groups, I encourage you to apply some of these points.
1) When calling on retailers, it would help if you had several different people call at different times of day and different days of the week. In fact, if two or more people would call simultaneously, it would get someone to take notice.
2) There have been several posts here and on other boards of people saying how many LTX sets they were planning to buy. That is all well and good, but guess who would like to know this - the retailers. Just as in point #1, call your favorite retailer and ask when and how many LTX's they were planning to initially stock as you were planning on buying X amount. Now please take this suggestion with a grain of salt. Don't make a claim you were not willing to follow through on, otherwise retailers would be stuck with an overstock, which would mean price reductions, which would mean pushing back any LTX additions, add-ons and line developments.
3) With regard to in-store demos, I am putting out a request to Brian aka TagFerret Farley, Dave Roman and similar that have contacts with Hasbro. Is it possible that Hasbro would sponsor a retailer event (similar to the Vans Warp tour some time back with LTTO) if we could provide the volunteers to man such an event. Most all retailers have a parking lot that would be possible to block off a few parking spaces and have a demo area or actual mini play arena. I know that there may be liability issues, but then again I have seen retailer put playhouses and swings in the front of the store and kids climb all over them WITHOUT any store supervision.
4) Many big box stores have DVD demo's or commercials playing on a small tv in the area that the item is being sold. Many, many, many moons ago, WOW had a large in store display (I wonder what John H aka Lazerbait did with his?). This is a minimal expense to HASBRO and would pay big dividends. Again, as in #3, could Hasbro be convinced to do such a marketing tactic. If not, could be do something?
Although it is widely known that as a group organizer and player I favor the ESS system, however I endorse ALL styles of home style lazer tag, regardless of the system. I have been frothing at the mouth at everything that I have seen regarding the upcoming LTX and plan to buy at least three sets for personal use (don't plan to do a complete change over as I have invested a lot of money into the ESS and compatible that I currently own, and the financial time-they have not been so good). I really like the thread that James, aka Sinistrahd has put forth and encourage others to add their ideas, and thoughts but most importantly, change thought and ideas into ACTION!
