Nerf N-Strike Longshot CS-6
Laser Challenge Conversion Project
Project headed by Bazookafied
I've been thinking about doing this project ever since I saw this behemoth Nerf gun in a commercial. Already seeing the sculpt of the gun and its sheer size demanded my attention. After doing more research on it, I learned it had a removeable front half. I didn't have any good ideas to make use of it, so I abandoned the idea of making one.
However, as I've gotten better and more creative, I've been able to imagine a design that could make this weapon a one man army, the ideal weapon for any situation. Ironic, that this is the whole idea behind the "N-Strike" line of Nerf stuff: to have a gun that can be modded to suit any battle situation. This conversion, if successful, will provide the user with a sniper rifle for long range attacks, a battle rifle for general combat use, and a sidearm, for dual wielding and support. Where am I getting 3 weapons? Check out the main feature of the CS-6: Image
The CS-6's main feature is the ability to remove the front barrel and turn one gun into two. So instead of storing a sidearm in a holster or in your pocket, it's already part of the gun. Easily detachable, this sidearm is quick to be used and, the main rifle, could still be used. Here's the tricky part though: getting this all to work.
The easy part is already 50% done. I've taken the liberty of installing LC internals in the sidearm half of the weapon. They work well. Next, I'll build a separate system into the main rifle. Now, I'll need a better lens arrangement to put into the dormant barrel in the Sidearm (the sidearm and the rifle don't use the same barrel), but the big issue is how to get it to link to the main gun just as easily as the sidearm can connect to it.
Here's my idea...
Below is an image of the rifle. There are two bright green lines representing the barrels of each of the independant systems. The second shade of bright green above the barrel seen on the sidearm is the sniper arrangement. When the Sidearm is connected to the main weapon, it will transfer the main weapon's lens to use the sniper arrangement in the sidearm weapon. The Yellow bars represent the triggers used for each of the separate systems and the pink boxes represent the two separate systems running each half.
Here's the tricky part: coming up with a way to connect the sniper arrangement to the main weapon without too much of a hassle. Ideally, I'd like to have the sniper arrangement activated on contact when the sidearm part is connected to it.
The entire point of this project's success relies on my ability to build a system that will work as seamlessly as connecting the two weapons. Any ideas on how to make a good way to get this to work would be appreciated!
