Welcome to the group and the hobby. Looking forward to hearing more about your exploits.
Regarding the points you bring forward, you are right on target. It is unfortunate but understandable that companies like Hasbro have to market lazer tag as a toy. Funny thing is that when home brewed lazer tag hit the market, the company that marketed PHOTON did so with the slogan "The sport of the next century" (or something like that). When Worlds of Wonder first hit the shelves it was marketed for adults. The only companies that sold it at the time was Service Merchandise (a catalog company) and The Sharper Image.
It is indeed unfortunate that from there it quickly degraded to "toy" status. The stigma continues and it is often difficult to explain lazer tag to people as they have a mental image of kids running around. Also when people try to describe it by comparing it to either Paint Ball or Air Soft, they do it more harm than good. I have heard people call LT a watered down version of paint ball (actually the words were more demeaning, this is the PC version, and the funny thing was the person that said it was trying to recruit players for LT).
You (we) are the best advocates of Lazer Tag (no matter what system you prefer). Right now both my nephew and my daughters boyfriend started college and my daughter starts next year. I am working with each one of them to see if they can start a Lazer Tag club in the school. You may be able to also recruit from your job (consider having a quick game at work). You have the equipment, it sounds like you have the desire and you have a great resource - this board that has many people who have walked the walk!
