Sensitivity Issues

Last night, a friend and I were doing some range testing on weapons. We decided to also use this oppritunity to test the sensitivity of the new CVP-03 sensor dome. What we found wasn't a problem with our guns' ranges... but what we later proved to be an issue with the vest. The sensor was only sensitive for about 275-315ft worth of range from any weapon, regardless of whether that weapon could shoot any further.

All my connections check out, there are no loose wires. I can only theorize that either the dome is effecting the sensor's sensitivity (unlikely since it's just a clear plastic dome) or that there's a power issue by switching the V2 Front Vest's sensor to a TSOP-1138. Any help on this would be most appreciated since I'm using this vest in less than a month for our groups' first tagging event of 2009.
