Thanks for the flood of responses guys! It's always nice to see so much reaction from a post (means I'm doing something right!)
John Falto: Yeah, I get that kind of a vibe from it too. The N-Strike weapons all seem to turn into props for Anime Cons and such so it's no surprise you get a vibe like that from it.
Pilot: Oh thank the heavens he's alive! Thanks for the compliments! Always good to hear from you!
Mike Yates: I think once I do get better pictures of it, you'll be able to see more of the paintjob's details but here's basically what I did:
I Masked all of the parts on the FireFly that weren't yellow. Then I painted the entire weapon black. Then I masked over parts of the black and sprayed OD Green and Brown simoutaneously to get a mix of Green and Brown for the rest of the camo. The result is black and Green/Brown camo that looks very cool, especially amongst the metallic gray parts that I masked over. I also changed the orange pullback on the top of the gun to that same metallic gray color. I did keep the cone of the Firestorm Lens silver because Mikey liked how it looked amongst the other metallic colors on this gun.
As for the scope rail, I drilled holes down the center of the rail. Because they fit over a seam, I also put a sheet of steryne plastic on the underside to give the screws from the weaver rails more to grab onto, making the rails very secure. There are actually two small rails instead of one big rail that the scope mounts onto.
I'm glad you're happy with what I've done. It's very encouraging hearing compliments like that from someone I get help and inspiration from for mods.
I'll have a full set of detailed photos of this thing before the weekend hits.
