Posted by Bazookafied I later found and error, found that my V2 vest I was testing on was low on batteries. After giving it fresh ones, the V2 vest reacted like the V1 vest and took every hit.

So with enough talk on the lasertag chatroom yesterday and enough funds, I finally went out and made a personal first for myself: I purchased equipment that isn't Laser Challenge. Yes, you guessed right, I picked up the new fandangled LTX.
Before I continue with the project intentions, I feel the Pheonix LTX deserves some words from a tried-and-true Laser Challenge buff. NICE. I haven't seen such a well thought-out tagger in such a nice package in a LONG time. It's better to me than the LTTO line since it's been simplified for basic use. I enjoy the feel of this tagger, the ease of use on the features, and all the details that go into this obviously well-thought out piece of equipment. It is large, but if you've seen my previous custom weapons, you'll know that Large isn't a problem for me
If I weren't so embedded in my Laser Challenge Systems, I'd switch to this gear in a heartbeat.
Which brings me to the purpose of this topic's purpose. You'll note I've named it the "LCX Project". It's not a typo. I fully intend to make the LTX useable for Laser Challenge. For purposes of it's use with the Omaha Laser Challenge Association, I will not be aiming to make the LTX fully compatible. OLCA regulations require all users to wear a chest-mounted sensory system to keep things fair and consistent. So, making the dome useable for Laser Challenge is not part of this project's intentions.
When I picked up the LTX this morning and got familiar with it's operation (partially thanks to the excellent tutorial that Flux posted on YouTube) my first goal was to explore the LTX to see if it had any signals that would set off a Laser Challenge Vest. Doubtful of this, I turned it on, turned on a Laser Challenge V2 vest at the other end of the room and fired. No luck. Just because I was mad that it "wouldn't be that easy", I fired a volley of shots at the vest. Miraculously, the V2 Vest reacted with a hit. After unloading several clips at the Laser Challenge V2 vest, I was getting hits every 3 or 4 shots. I tried the Shot Blast and got 100% of my hits on the V2 Vest. Of course, the V2 Vest didn't recognize the Shotblast like it would a "Max Blast" (max blast lands 3 instant hits on your vest in LC) but it was taking all of those SB hits.
Excited, I ran to grab a Laser Challenge Team Force vest (the old gray ones, usually reffered to as "V1") and tried it out. The LTX nailed every hit on the V1 vest without ever resetting it. I tried doing the reverse, firing a Laser Challenge weapon at the LTX with no hits being recognized.
So I've just confirmed that the LTX is compatible with Laser Challenge without Modding it, right? WRONG. I decided to try it out on the only other system we use for vests. The Radar Extreme system. Laser Challenge Radar Extreme was made after V1 and V2 but has many of the same traits as V2. However, neither normal shots or a shotblast would register hits on a Radar Extreme Vest.
So, I'm enlisting your help, America! Here's my
* The LTX can always register hits on a V2 Vest.
* The LTX can always register hits on a V1 Vest.
* The LTX can always register hits on V1 and V2 using shotblast.
* The LTX cannot hit a Radar Extreme vest regardless of the type of shot.
*The LTX cannot take hits from any Laser Challenge weapon I've tried.
Now I need your help. Other than "just don't use Radar Extreme Vests" how is this working and is there a way I can make this work better for LC?
