When I opened up the LTX to remove the orange buttons and switches to prep it for painting, I decided to switch the Strength and Ammo gauges. I also have been making a small cover to go over the Strength gauge since it will not be needed for Laser Challenge (hits will go to the vest instead of the Gun)
The switch was a success without too much trouble. The plastic parts that held the rows of lights in place had to be modified to fit the opposite array but they work nicely. I felt that having the ammo gauge on the left side of the gun for a right-handed player would be better than having to look to the other side of the gun to see how much ammo is left.
I kept the lights for the trigger in but painted the hammer flat black so they cannot shine through. I've been contemplating making the same change to the reload lights.
Now I just need to add a tinted transparent piece over the Ammo lights so they're not as bright!
I had once thought that I would need to turn the LTX's dome off to prevent it from being hit by other modified LTTO and LTX weapons we use. However, after some chatting with fellow laser tag enthusiasts, they informed me to instead put all the LTTO and LTX units on the same team so they would not be tagging the guns/disabling them.
