Ballistic Shield?

Saw this from a Nerf site (I was Nerf lover until I saw LTX video from toy fair!). And it had this neat idea of a Foam Ballistic Shield.

I'm very interested and think maybe it can incorporated into laser tag.

From the top of my head I think it'll be useful when advancing in a narrow stairs from lower ground. (It'll be more balanced against a shielded machine gun position)

The problem is, how to prevent people from shooting through the window? I'm thinking reflective sheets covering the window to deflect IR beam; or use another board with a lot of small holes so you can see through but not enough IR beam can pass and make a hit.

I can see people using shield to cover their tagger but not their faces (which will look pretty funny). Also LTX already got a energy shield, does that make a ballistic shield completely useless?
