I know that most of us (myself included) play outdoor games, be it at night or during the day. I don't think I'll ever change from playing outdoors to indoors, but recently, I've been presented with oppritunities to host and be part of indoor matches. In the Fall of '08, some of you might recall that I hosted a few games inside a building on my college campus for fellow colleagues with much success. I have a friend who attends my college but during the summer he goes back home which is a couple hours away from here. He also owns some laser tag gear (same system I use) and has on occasion asked to borrow some of our gear for bigger matches that he holds.
He has recently invited some of our players to an indoor match and I realized that my gear is all wrong for outdoors. A long-range rifle that's 3ft in length, woodland camo, it just doesn't seem like a good match. So, like the equipment whore I am, I've been trying to create an "Indoor Setup" for myself not just for this match coming up, but for future matches I might host in the fall again.
The goal for this is to create an exclusively indoor-centered loadout to maximize my effectiveness in those surroundings. Indoor play is very different from outdoor, especially in regards to weaponry. Not too long ago, my outdoor setup used to be very close-quarters based, so much of what I'm doing is very similar to that setup.
After working with Sundawg this afternoon on gear, we managed to get my old Super Cobra up and running, We put in a new power switch, trigger, and removed the lights on it. It's also getting a nice new coat of paint.
For the vest, I'm preparing a Radar Extreme Front Vest and V1 Back Vest for painting to serve as my personal indoor use vest. I also have pouches installed on the straps for flashlights that I will carry.
Since we're indoor and it's likely I'll be doing a lot of kneeling and crouching to avoid fire, I've got knee pads for my legs. I'll also be using black Flexon Combat Gloves and either a black or dark Gray t-shirt.
So, tentatively, I've got this much confirmed for my indoor loadout:
Super Cobra R (Main Weapon)
CQB Pistol (Sidearm)
Radar Extreme Vest (with V1 Back Vest)
Night Digital Camo Pants
Gray T-Shirt
Flexon Combat Gloves : Black
Black Knee Pads
I'll get pictures of the vest once the paint is done and I've got all my pouches affixed where I want them. I kinda feel like a superhero with this thing on... like I've got a utility belt on!
