Did some more tests after a lucky find at "Thrift World". They had a LTTO Deluxe for an unprecidented 2.98! Granted it was covered in all those darned "Lazer Tag Team Ops" and "LT" stickers which I quickly took off, and there were a couple of spots where it looked like it got dropped on something hot, but the tagger functioned perfectly when we tested it!
Sundawg and I did another series of tests on the Deluxe to find that it had the same results as the TMB and LTX as far as compatability. We did, however, manage to make a nice mod on it to turn off that Beacon to make it Laser Challenge-friendly. We took out the Sound switch option (left sound on all the time) and used that switch for a toggle to turn that beacon on and off.
As many people have noted, the OLCA has been making the inclusion of Lazer Tag Brand weapons interesting, since they cannot land hits on Radar Extreme Vests (we operate a few of these). One could be wearing a Radar Extreme Vest and use a Lazer Tag Brand weapon with no beacon modification at all and have a deadly close range repellant to any player that gets in too close! Instead of switching to a sidearm, the Beacon has a good 5-10 ft range for hitting Laser Challenge vests. Fun stuff!
