100% agreed. The likelihood of Hasbro making a hosting station seems to be pretty much zilch -- it's been on the drawing board for years and each year we seem to get further and further away from it. SO for the foreseeable future you'll need LTTO taggers to do hosted games.
The hosted games add a lot to the game, so if you seriously enjoy playing LT then you simply must get some LTTO gear and play the hosted games! Get at least one of each LTTO model, since they all have their own mix of games which can be hosted.
Note that only LTX can play the 2-teams and 3-teams LTAG games (which I call TTAG), the LTTO gear cannot join in these games. Also note that later LTX versions such as the Nerf LTX cannot play the 3-Teams version. But you probably already know this from reading through the boards.
Greg's website has a great rundown page of all the games the different models can host, if you haven't already checked out every single section of his website do so immediately!

The various games which the different models can host are shown on the "Games" page from his website:

The only thing I would add to Greg's information is that I just noticed the number of tags and reloads allowed for the opponents in some of the various "Tag Master" games is incorrect. When TAGM is hosted by the IRT-2X "Drone" the listed numbers are correct. But when TAGM, 2TTM, or TMIG are hosted by the TMB then opponents are allowed the full 1-99 hits and 0-99 or UL reloads.
