Zook,
I thought it was fun to open up a new V-2 set for this project. Not using used gear in this tagger is just one less thing to worry about during the construction of this new custom.
I look forward to tagging with the family in the future and will post a full review of the Dragonfly VS ECM battle when I am lucky enough to get everyone together again.
I suspect Matt's ECM will out-range Kelly's Dragonfly. But if Kelly can catch Matt out in the open she should have no problem landing multiple hits with the wide and multi-range pattern of IR light from the M-FLO design of the Dragonfly's twin 50mm barrel assemblies. It should be an interesting contest; Kelly's no-holds-barred, in-your-face style, pitted against Matt's calculating, yet determined tactics.
I actually bought a full case of V-2 Twin gear sets from Toys-R-Us. My wife thought I was crazy. I bought two more Twin gear sets at other outlets. I also purchased six Firestorms when Wal-Mart was closing them out. I only purchased one new Ultrawide. This is just the new gear that I originally purchased back in the 90's. I have since rounded up over 23 sets, including a couple of Ultrawides, on secondary markets like ebay and from friends.
Of the original new gear I only have three new-in-box Firestorms, one unopened twin gear set and another that only has one tagger/target set in the box.
I gave some of the new gear away as Christmas gifts to family who wanted to participate in outdoor tag sessions with us.
