Exactly! TagFerret pointed out the trends in that other thread and I've seen how I personally fit into that for a little while but since I formed the OLCA, we've forged ahead and never looked back!
I almost think that having a "dead" or "dying line" like Laser Challenge as your pride and joy is better. Laser Tag fans can easily be spoiled by constant new releases... they get stuck in that "there HAS to be new stuff or we're toast" kind of ideology. But LC for example hasn't seen a significantly good thing come out since the turn of the century. We're USED to expecting that what's being released isn't going to help us. Instead, we mod the crap out of our own stuff so it "doesn't get bland" and keep on picking up eBay auctions of the good stuff that used to thrive on store shelves.
In any case, my history with Laser Tag has been mirroed, as I said, with the "flux" in the hype. I didn't know about Laser Tag really until '96 when LC came out and I got my first set. Then it kinda had fizzled out by the time I was in Middle School/early High School. Then near the end of High school I started seeing LTTO come out and got my old gear back out and started collecting what I could find. Once we started the OLCA when I was in college, the pedal was to the metal and we've become independant of the "ups and downs of Laser Tag". And those that have been in our group have followed us away from that rollercoaster trend and continue to flourish in the sport.
