For those that may not remember what the video/commercial contest was all about, the following has been shamelessly lifted from Dave Roman's website.
'nuff said!
Contest Summary & News
This is a video competition with the goal of producing the best Laser Tag Commercial / Trailer.
Get out your video cameras, your old footage, and your editing software! Gather your buddies and their brothers and sisters and bring out the Laser Tag gear! Time to get started on winning $200 & video kudos!
After listening to advice from multiple sources, we have rolled back the dates a little, upped the prize money, and changed the judging process a little. The idea is to let the Youtube community choose the top 10 videos, which will then be voted on by members of
1 Source Laser Tag to choose the top 3 videos. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will then be chosen by a panel of judges.
The hope is that the videos will raise awareness worldwide of the gear, games, clubs, and events of the Laser Tag community.

Contest Rules, Guidelines, and Legal Stuff
Please note that the following guidelines are still under construction and may change without notice before the actual competition starts. Each entrant will be emailed the final set of rules which will be locked in on the 15th of September.
NOTE! Don't let the above statement stop you from getting started on your masterpiece video! The rules will not change much from what they are unless a point of conflict needs to be resolved. You will have at least 2 weeks to make modifications to your video if you need to if any changes are made that affects your work in progress. The clock is ticking - get started NOW! If you have laser tag events coming up in September or October, that is your chance to get some good footage.
Another Note: We will posting some sample videos as time goes on.

Video Contest Entry Guidelines
Theme/Content: This is a commercial or trailer. The commercial must either highlight a Laser Tag Product, Laser Tag Products, or the Hobby/Sport known as Laser Tag in general. The commercial can be for a specific Laser Tag Club/Group or Event. The commercial CANNOT be for a commercial laser tag facility such as an arena, ranch, or course nor laser tag business (other than manufacturer/brand). If you have questions about whether your commercial's subject will be allowed, please contact us so that we do not have to summarily disqualify your entry.
Who can enter: This is a public competition open to any individual / group that is considered a small-scale non-commercial venture. Individuals taking video classes or having some form of education to that degree can enter submissions but not as a school, institution, or business.
Restrictions: Videos must be for a G to PG-13 rated audience. Judges and 1SLT LLC reserve the right to disqualify entries which contain: profanity, sexual content, extreme gore, and/or offensive content on any level. Content suggesting that Laser Tag gear does actual physical damage is not allowed. Commercials portraying gear to have capabilities beyond reality may be disqualified for lack of credibility. Negative and slanderous content to any viable entity that may sue for slander is definitely not allowed – especially where a brand name is used.
Copyright Material: Use of any copyrighted material including but not limited to music, other videos, and brand names must have a 1-2 second acknowledgement at the beginning or ending of the video that is readable, or the entry may be disqualified.
Time: All videos must be 10, 30, or 60 seconds long. Copyright acknowledgements may be added to the front of the video and not counted as a portion of that time, but must not be more 3 seconds long. Videos violating the time limit may be entered into the contest and may receive an honorable mention, but will not be eligible for the top 3 prizes. (Note: our original time was 10-30seconds - however out of respect for the original Worlds of Wonder Lazer Tag Commercial being 60 seconds long, we extended the time.)
Format: Videos must be uploadable to Youtube.com and must download and play within 40 seconds using a broadband connection. If a video's size causes it to take longer than 40 seconds to download and play, it will be disqualified. This will only happen if the resolution is set too high for a 30 second video.
Voting: The top 10 videos will be selected via popular vote by members of youtube.com via youtube's star voting system (this may change to members of 1slt.com if cheating is persistent). The top ten will then be voted on by members of 1SLT.com for the top 3. The top 3 will be voted on for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes by a panel of judges.
Top 3 Judging Criteria and Secondary Criteria
- Unique Creativity: How original the plot of the commercial is and the depth of creativity.
- Complexity: How much work seemed to be put into the video.
- Attraction/Attention: How well did the piece keep one's attention.
-Salesmanship: Did the piece sell what it was marketing - does one want to go do/buy what the video was portraying.
- Video Quality: How clean was the video focus.
- Audio Quality: How clean and clear was the Audio.
- Lighting: How well was the lighting done in the video.
-Special Effects: If any, how well were they pulled off.
-Enjoyment Factor: Simply, how much did the voter enjoy the video.
Special Note: In the event that a single entrant has multiple entries, only 1 entry can quallify for the top 3. The entrant must decide on which entry to apply if 2 or more of their videos have been selected.
Originality / Rights
This must be an original video specifically made for this competition. Entries may not make use of older videos already published on the Internet. Raw footage not used in any other video that has already been shot may be used. The video footage must belong to the individual using the footage. By submitting a video to the competition, you are certifying that legally the footage is yours, and that you have consent (verbally at a minimum – written is better) from all individuals in the video releasing their rights to have the media published in a public format. Further, by submitting the material, you give 1 Source Laser Tag, LLC permission and rights to display and publish the material publicly for the current purpose of the competition and future purpose of promoting Laser Tag in general.
CLARIFICATION ON HOW JUDGING WILL WORK
There are 3 phases of judging...currently this is how things will be done:
Phase I
The videos are posted on Youtube.com. Entrants have 25 days to try and get as many people as possible to view their videos. This is similar to the voting on shows like American Idol - yes, people can watch the video over and over and over (voting over and over and over) - but for 26 days? We are hoping in the end 10 videos will stand out from the rest by number of views (this also might push one of the videos to the entrance screen of most watched videos!)
At the end of this phase, the top 10 most popular videos will be selected.
Phase II
The top ten videos will be posted on a survey on 1 Source Laser Tag, where only members can vote on them. This serves 2 purposes. One - It ensures that the top 3 videos are elected by the laser tag community. Two - I'll be honest, it gives 1SLT.com the lime lite for a week and may add to our membership.
The votes from 1SLT.com's survey will pick the top 3 videos (or the top popular 3, anyway)
Phase III
The top 3 videos will be submitted to our judges, who have scoring cards where they give a 1-10 rating on several sets of criteria. The points will be collected for each video from each judge and added together. The videos will be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd by the points system. In the event of a tie, David Roman will make the deciding vote by using the scoring system.
Who are the judges?
Our secret panel of judges are individuals that work or have worked in the world of video production as teachers, producers, and buying agents, or they are leaders in the Laser Tag industry that are not associated with any of the top 3 videos. If one of the top 3 videos promotes an item that would benefit one of the judges, that particular judge will not participate in this voting panel. We have been asked by a few on the panel to be anonymous and so we have decided to keep them all anonymous. This avoids bad wishes towards any of the judges by the participants of the competition. It is our hope that we will have a minimum of 5 judges on the final panel. We are still asking individuals so that we have at least 10 on standby in case some have to be removed to avoid the above-mentioned conflicts.
