The Off-Season for me is usually a time when I have to focus on other things in life. However, this doesn't stop me from trying to develop my existing gear even further and have it better than ever for the next season. With the Optics Upgrade in store for my beloved PR, I couldn't help but think about the possibilities of upgrading the OS.
I have thrown the idea around before with several induviduals more technologically inclined than I. While my weapon works fine in it's present state, it's always a Work In Progress for me. Keeps me busy.
The idea is to install some kind of board that can do the following:
* Work with Laser Challege equipment
* Mimick the on-screen abilities of the Pulse Rifle
> > Firing Sound Effects, High RoF, 95 Ammo limit
* Run off of an 8.4V powersupply
One way I thought I might be able to achieve this is by replacing the current OS, a Laser Challenge V2 Pistol board, with a MilesTag uMT module. It would be small enough to fit inside the limited space in the Pulse Rifle, would be able to mimick the sounds and effects I would want, and hopefully make the Pulse Rifle able to operate on multiple platforms.
My main question is this: is it possible o get the MilesTag uMT module to be modified (via software I'm assuming) to work with Laser Challenge gear? If so, could it be modified to work with other laser tag types as well? If my suspicions are right, installing a uMT Module in the Pulse Rifle would make it able to be used for Airsoft and whatever other Laser Tag systems we could program it for. Obviously ideas would need to be worked out for sensors and such (Laser Challenge doesn't require sensors to be wired into the gun, so it could just work as a LC weapon and I'd have to wear separate LC Sensors)
Your ideas/advice are appreciated as always!
