Try to jostle the missle a bit. Gently tap against a desk or floor and see if you hear any rattling. The missles aren't too hard to disassemble, but take care in removing the black tube. I think there's a picture of someone taking apart a missle in the Lazer Tag Yahoo Group. Also, when removing the 2 screws that attach the red dome to the orange part, BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL not to lose any of the gold plated pins and springs which are used to charge the capacitor in the grenade.
If you're looking for a black tube replacement check out your local Home Depot (or any other hardware store) and see if you can locate some pipe insulation of appropriate size and width.
