With the MLTA running with Phoenix LTXs for our games, our customized weaponry that we used to be known for has diminished quite a bit. I was hoping to have more customized blasters for this system by now, but our work on the Arduino has hit a few snags and progress is slow at best. In the meantime, I decided to tackle a project involving a skill that I've polished over the years: recasing (or reshelling as some call it)
This is my second recasing using the Phoenix LTX at it's core and my first that'll involve a lens built by LazerBait. The project is called the "LTX EF5". The "EF5" is part of a classification system for tornadoes. I thought it was fitting because the shell I'm using to build this blaster is from a Super Soaker Tornado Strike. That, and I live in the heartland of the US, so I'm no stranger to twisters.
Above is the Super Soaker that this project is being built off of. The wide diameter of that spinning barrel is a great fit for one of LB's lenses!
"EF5" is also the strongest classification a tornado can be given, so I thought it was fitting seeing as how it'll be utilizing one of LazerBait's lenses. Additional project details, including a brief video of the test fitting/layout of the internals can be seen at my blog> Tactical Tag
