Guess I'll add my experience since I'm quite new to lazer tag. I was looking at lazer tag gear online (BFS and Steradian) and wanted to get some gear to play with my daughter when visiting my father-in-law's place on 100 acres.
After doing some searching I found Andy In Indy and hoped I could get in on one of his games with the Indy Lazer Tag Club. Well it turned out it was really just a club of one. (At least I never met anyone besides Andy, but he assures me there were a few who liked to play).
My first game with my daughter and Andy was up in Lafayette with the Steradian crew. I had 5 ESS I got online based on Andy's recommendation. It was great gear that I sold after LTTO came out, since I'm not much of a collector.
Shortly after that Andy and I re-formed the Indy Lazer Tag Club. I used to coerce several of my coworkers to come out and play. Now I have them asking me when we are going to play next. We also picked up some regulars from Richmond, IN and southern Ohio who played with WOW gear and now are LTTO converts. We also have a few from southern indiana who drive about an hour each way to join us.
I would say we typically have 10-15 people show up now ranging in age from 8-50 or so. We even have about 6-8 who are crazy enough to play in sub zero weather with 6-8 inches of snow on the ground.
Our next game is going to be this Sun. and I will be meeting several new people from the Indiana Guard Reserve, who seem to be playing in their dorms.
For me lazer tag has been a great way to have fun with friends, family and meet new people. This is a hobby that I will have for quite some time, especially since my kids are 2,8,14 yrs. old.
