First, my history...When WoW Lazer Tag first hit the market in the mid-80's, I was a teenager, and I thought it was the coolest thing EVAR! I bought (or had been given) one of pretty much everything in the Lazer Tag line. By the time I had a cool job at a local theater with a cool boss, LT was being clearanced, and I convinced my boss and coworkers to get sets. We ended up playing in the theater, behind it, in cemetaries, and all over, even getting the cops called on us and laying our "weapons" on the ground.
Then came college. I moved across the country to go to UW, and brought my basic LT set with me. Maybe I didn't look hard enough or in the right places, but I couldn't find anyone to play with me other than a few of the guys in my dorm, which didn't last very long. I ended up making the mistake of selling most of my WoW gear (Starlyte Pro and all) to someone... why I didn't ask to play with them is beyond me... I still had my StarHelmet and StarCap, gave my StarTalk to some nephews to play with (who destroyed them, of course)...
Anyway, it was years before I did anything with LT again. By the time Tiger Lazer Tag came out, I had a wife and a kid. I bought some of the stuff, but it's wasn't that great, and again, I couldn't find anyone to play with. I went online and found the old Fuzzycouch board and posted a message or two about Tiger LT, but people were pretty stuck on Laser Challenge V2 and whatnot, usually talking about putting LC guts into LT shells and stuff, or talking about ESS, which I had none of. After a few months I stopped going back to the board and drifted away from Lazer Tag again.
Now, how I got into LTTO specifically...
Then one day last summer I'm shopping at Target with my family (wife and two sons). I always hit the toys, 'cus I collect Transformers, but I look down and see this big green box that says Lazer Tag on it. I'm like "cool, new lazer tag" and took a closer look. I was immediately impressed by the features as shown on the box, and decided to pick up a set, since I had some spending money again wih a new job. I wish I had bought batteries, 'cus I couldn't wait to get home to open them, and took them out right there in the car while the wife went to another store. This was the Deluxe set, right after initial release, and I was already hooked again.
This time, I *immediately* went online to search out lazer tag forums to catch up on, and found that the Fuzzycouch site was kind of on the slow side, and found links to here. It took some catching up, but I managed it, and dove in head first with LTTO. I soon got another set so that my whole family of four could play. Next thing I know I'm getting another set so that my son's friends could come over and play. By that fall, I had several taggers, and was looking forward to the Drone with great anticipation. Come Winter and Spring, my arsenal increased, and I decided to try to get a club of some kind started. The ALTC is going strong, and I hope it gets even bigger next year.
LONG LIVE LTTO!
