This site has been set up by a fan, for fans of the activity known as home style "lazertag". It's purpose is to highlight players, games, add-ons, modifications, etc., regardless of the system that they use, for the benefit of other fans.

First Aid Kit

I am trying to put together a standard First Aid kit to recommend to mobile operators and clubs. here is what I have:

Band-Aids
Antiseptic wipes
Antibiotic ointment
Gauze pads
Surgical tape
Poison Ivy Ointment
Ace bandage
Hydrogen Peroxide
Liquid Benadryl
Dosing cup
Face shield

For those not in the know, a face shield is the device used to keep your mouth out of the other person's mouth in CPR.

Has anyone else come across a First Aid situation that these items would not cover?

Tweezers: for pulling out splinters
Tylenol/Aspirin: personally, I get headaches from playing in the sun too long
Pocket Knife: for all your slicing and dicing needs.

Others:
Cel Phone: speed-dial 911
Bug Spray: self-explanatory

Instant cold pack!
Sprains need icing immediately, as do many other injuries. When we used the one that came in my kit, I immediately went looking for replacements. Could only find them at dedicated drug stores like Walgreens.

U can get an ice pack that can be frozen overnight in the fridge, taken out, it should last somewhere btw 6 to 8 hours.

Instanst ice packs are a bit too steep to use often.

Also, u might want to get some ointment for soothing sunburns (I forgot what's it called)

This is for a first aid kit, not for long term or home care, though.
You're not going to have a cold ice pack with you at games just in case someone sprains an ankle. And trust me on this... as a person who just had a severe sprain, even right out of the freezer, you only have a couple good hours in that ice pack.

No, for first aid kits, you need an instant ice pack.

For home care, a re-usable/freezable one is certainly the way to go, though.

OK getting a bit OT here but I found this ice pack that is a bag of many little icecubes sized bags of water. It is meant to be reusble ice cubes for coolers but it is ideal for sprains and other pains as it fits around just about anything and last a long time. I have yet to find any more but if I do maybe I will try to find a suplier and link it. As someone who has had to use way too many ice packs this one is best so far.

Good scissors.

epi-pen for allergic folk, they forget theirs all the time

Cheap ammonia based glass cleaner. Long as you drip fresh windex onto a sting, it stops the waves of pain for that rough 1st 30 mins. And gives a stung kid something to do besides holler. Works w/most beestings--you'll know immediately if it's working. Personally verified it works w/yellow jacket stings.

Head light. Huge advantage for splinter/thorn removal.

Straight pin. Great combo w/pointy tweezers.

Luxurious option: Sharp! flat-ended fingernail clipper. Used to trim away dead skin from wound if a flap is trapping dirt, lets dressing work better.

Thanks for the input! I had pondered some of those but wasn't sure that would be appropriate for a business owner or staff.

An epi-pen is a perscription item, and not legal to use on the person not on that perscription. That is why the liquid Benedryl - a large dose can hold off the alegergic reaction long enough for an EMT to arrive, and its effects are well know even to interns. I could not advise a business owner to do something illegal, even if it is the best thing to do.
