No, I know of the quick and it's not that. My dog is real young so it isnt discoloration with age. She does some paw licking but i am not sure if its any relation. what it seems to me is that she tore her nail (but more than one) and blood was present when the nail grew. I am assuming if thats true in time the nail will grow and there would be no appearance of the red streaking. The only thing is its been quite some time over 6 months.

: : In dogs with clear or white nails, you can
: actually see the quick inside the nail. A
: dog toenail is just like yours, only round.
: The white tip, the part you canm cut off, is
: first, then you can (sometimes but not
: always) see a pink-red line inside the nail.
: This is the quick.
:
: Does that sound like what you're seeing?
:
: If not, then realize that some dogs
: naturally have "discolored" nails,
: in the sense that the entire nail is not
: always one color. Some dogs have white
: nails and black nails on the same paw. Some
: dogs have nails that are white on one side
: and black on the other, or black towards the
: base and shading to white at the tip.
:
: Also, as dogs age, their nails can become
: thicker and discolored.
:
: If your dog is not limping, licking at her
: paws, or otherwise seeming uncomfortable,
: its probably very normal.
