try a rescue. if you are unable to place your dog, then a rescue is a much better option than an animal shelter. please remember that if you choose to go with a rescue to donate whatever you can. these people work as volunteers in a non profit setting. the application to adopt an animal from a rescue is generally quite extensive. some do home visits, etc. so you can be sure that your dog will be getting the best chance at being placed in a great loving home.
