Sick Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

I own a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier who will turn 2 in a few weeks. She was just diagnosed with kidney disease last week. Our vet thinks we caught it early (ultrasound showed no cysts yet on or in her kidneys) but he can't guarantee how long she'll live. She's on several medications and Hill's RX k/d dog food. I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with this disease that they could share. Samantha is my baby and needless to say I'm totally devestated by this news. Thanks.
