The Luce Line Railroad Club and Minnesota River Valley Division of the National Model Railroad Association's 11th Hutchinson Model RR Show is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the McLeod County Fairgrounds, 780 Century Ave. S.W., Hutchinson, Mn. Admission is $3, free for those 12 and younger.
This large show (10,000 square feet), usually attracts at least 50 flea market tables of model railroad equipment, railroad books, videos and memorabilia. In 2004, we had 15 layouts in N, HO, S, O, G and LEGO.
We have popular vote model contests in diesel, steam, freight cars, passenger cars, structures, cabooses and dioramas.
We will have at least 2 clinics and hourly door prizes.
This year, members of the Thousand Lakes Region of the NMRA will have a special member meeting at 1 p.m. to vote on bylaw changes. The TLR board will also have its fall meeting.
The wives of LLRC will operate a great food concession stand.
The LLRC is a 25-member 100-percent NMRA club in the Hutchinson area. The MRVD is a 25-member division centered in the Willmar area of west central Minn. The groups have a few cross membership and have collaborated on this show for several years.
Hutchinson is about 60 miles west of Minneapolis on Hwy. 7, and 45 miles south of St. Cloud on Hwy. 15, or 40 miles north of New Ulm on Hwy. 15. The fairgrounds is three blocks west of Hwy. 15 on the south end of town, behind Wal-Mart.
