Dear LLRC members who were unable to attend the annual meeting Sept. 19, 2002:
Your new officers are: Pres. Bruce Crosby; V.P Steve Jerabek (in a very close election over incumbent Wally Daffner), Treas. Gerald Karstens.
The members voted to have an open house 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, as part of November being National Model Railroad Month. It will take place at our layout home at Hutchinson (Minn.) Mall.
They also voted to have a "Christmas Trains" day at our mall site, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat., Dec. 7. ALL members are encouraged to bring any Christmas trains in HO, Amer.Flyer or three-rail scales to run on the layout that day. We also will have the mall layout site open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 14 and 21 for the holiday shopping season.
A reminder that the club's annual model railroad show is coming up 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat., Oct. 12, at the McLeod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. Show your membership for free admission. Otherwise it is $3. Also, we need help setting up the Agribition building beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, and tear down after the show on Oct. 12. That includes help dismantling the club's HO and O scale layouts earlier in the week for transport to the show. If you have contributed much this year, now is your chance.
Also, work will begin soon on shoring up the Hutchinson GN depot. The materials are on site and work will begin soon. If you have any carpentry or construction experience, it is greatly appreciated if you help. Check the club Web site for regular updates from David Zachmeyer, who is doing a great job heading up the effort.
The members also voted to survey our layout visitors and flea market vendors at this show to see if there is interest in a spring show next year, perhaps late April or early May. The extra income may be needed to help pay the mall rent ($150 per month.)
Watch for the upcoming newsletter from editor Mark Braun for the slate of monthly meeting times and locations for Oct. to Jan. Most will be at the Mall layout location.
