Just a reminder to LLRC members, the club is hosting some special events at our model railroad layout site in Hutchinson Mall during the coming months.
November is National Model Railroad Month and in recognition of that the club will host an open house with expanded hours at the mall on Saturday, Nov. 16. The four layouts, N, HO, Flyer and three-rail Lionel, will be operated 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. The public will be able to view a video tape on how to build a beginning HO scale layout produced by the World's Greatest Hobby campaign. They also will be able to register for door prizes.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the club will host "Christmas Trains." Members are encouraged to bring Christmas themed trains in any of the four scales to operate on the layouts. There also will be a drawing for a Bachmann starter HO train set donated by member Terry Davis. The train set will be given away during a special mall operating session on Sat., Dec. 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The layouts also will be operated 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat., Dec. 21. Members are strongly encouraged to attend to help spread the word about the hobby and our club.
