Twenty-nine club members and spouses celebrated the 10th anniversary of Luce Line Railroad Club Inc. with a buffet banquet at the Highway Inn, at Greenleaf, on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003.
The Hutchinson-based, 100-percent National Model Railroad Association club with more than 30 members, was founded by six modelers and railfans at a November 1993 meeting at the home of T.Davis.
Sunday's banquet featured video presentations of photo albums by Bruce Crosby and Terry Davis, memories of our deceased members Cletus Fuenffinger and Daniel Hlavka, presentation of a four-page 10-year history of the club compiled by Davis, and a reading of the current and past membership roster by Treasurer Gerald Karstens.
Larry Graf served as master of ceremonies, while President Dave Zachmeyer presented a short address. V.P./Sec. Steve Jerabek handed out six door prizes. Twin Cities & Western Railroad, a short-line based in Glencoe, provided everyone with Operation Life Saver pens. Original members include Crosby, Davis, Graf, Karstens, Mark Braun and Jonathan Crosby.
Past Gold Spike Award winners were honored. Eight of the nine were present for a photo.
