Up until this year's broards meet, I was the proud owner of a Seagull Silver Century Plus two stroke outboard(long shaft). I believe the engine was built some time in the early 1970s and the carb. has been jetted the run on 25:1 mix rather than 10:1. This is a factory approved modification and is fully described in the manuals that go with the motor. It starts easily, and does not really make that much smoke. Now for the down side. It is noisy and very heavy on fuel. I do not know if this is typical, or my example is just old and knackered.I still have the motor, but I am no longer a proud owner. It's space on the transom has been taken by a brand new four stroke! I think that the Seagull is too good for the skip, does anyone know any Lysanderists who are already deaf, and have access to an accompanying tanker? In an ideal world I would like to swap it for a genoa but I would consider a swap with almost anything usuable on a Lysander.
