In relation to your query about windows, I had my local glass merchant cut me some round pieces of laminated glass and a rubber moulding strip to fix them to the plywood cabin sides. I cannot remember the name of the rubber strip but it was advertised in Practical Boat Owner. The rubber strip comes in two peices, the outer section has two cut outs to accept the glass and the ply, and the other section fits into the side to stiffen it and force the strip between the glass and the ply. (The glass and the ply lie in the same plane) The sealing strip is cut to length and wraps around the perimeter of the glass. The ends of each piece of rubber are secured with silicon mastic. It was quite expensive (£90 to do the whole boat) and it was an absolute pig to do, but so far (5 years later) it has proven to be totally waterproof.
good luck, Mick
