Posted by MajorStorm on 1/1/2006, 2:47 am By Storm2Storm / LehmanFan11 On paper, the defence is solid, but for some reason they are not playing constantly well. They have been very shaky in many critical situations this first half. It is not something that should be coming from this group of established veterans. Justin Peters left partly because of this. The defence was most of the reason why he started out shaky this season and from what I can tell, he felt the defence had pretty much let him down. Offence, by stats, the Majors are (should be) one of the highest scoring teams in the league, but they severally lack the depth and scoring needed beyond the first line of J. Dontati, Haskins, and Vitarelli. This is a team that is underachieving and sometimes plays with a lack of aggressiveness, which in several spots, they lead in the game but let the opposition outplay them in the 3rd period and lose. This is a team that should be well over the .500 level but in reality are actually playing under .500 when counting just wins and loses, not OTL or SOL. The roster is decent but Bud has made some questionable trades as of late. Trading Peters was shocking enough but to let Nie go and making Savage the #1 starting goalie may not have been the best move on his part. We all know that Savage can do well but may not quite be the legitimate #1 goalie that can lead this team in a run for a OHL title. When Savage is on, he can make 50 plus saves but when he is off, he tends to let in lot of weaker shots and leave with higher goals. The current roster also has very few younger players (Blame that one on GM/Coach personal reasons) Most on the team are 19 years old which will create a roster problem for 2006-07. I know, and the fans know, that this is a very high quality team but are not playing anywhere near their potential and if things don’t improve then maybe its time for some major leadership changes, particularly in Coaching department. (Sorry Bud) S2S MajorStorm (And Eugene, wheres that arena you / associates have mentioned last year on Fan 590, Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, TSN, and Rogers Sportsnet coming?)

The Majors first half: The Good, The Bad, and The Bud.

On a personal note, rumours have surfaced of the players (some or all?) lack of respect for Bud. It is upsetting to hear but Bud is a tough cookie and I really don’t know much about him. Is he really stubborn in his coaching ways? Does he not bond well with younger players? I dunno, but if the current roster of players don’t respect you then maybe its time to gracefully step aside. I like Bud. He is a decent coach (on most nights) and has pulled some good plays out of the hat but with how the Majors are playing now and where they could and should be, I really don’t know how much Bud will be around for…but that’s my 2 cents….
