Posted by hockeybeats on 6/27/2006, 12:05 am, in reply to "N.H.L. DRAFT" You're being way too simplistic. Junior hockey works in 4-year cycles. From 1997-2000, the Majors were in their expansion years and were able to very high draft picks because they were at the bottom of the standings. These players developed and the Majors became contenders from 2000-04. Because of their success, they are punished with lower draft picks and so this catches up with them now. There haven't been Tim Brent's, Mark Popovic's or Andy Chiodo's available for the Majors to choose from. This is simply part of the cycle of junior hockey. You can't win every year. It's not very likely that Dave Cameron could have had much more continued success had he continued on with the Majors as their high draft picks moved on and lower draft picks took over. Besides, every single complaint that anybody ever issued on this board about Stefanski (shouting, working them too hard, etc.) was said every bit as much about Dave Cameron when he was coaching.

So who on the Majors was a surefire NHL pick but had their development stunted by Stefanski?
