This means there is something wrong with the coach. There isn't necessarily a 4 yrs cycle, that you are bad for 2-3 years, then become good for 2-3 yrs. The best example is the Plymouth Whalers, they either finish 1st or 2nd in their division since they are Plymouth Whalers. Only the last year as Detroit Whalers were they finish under .500 other than their first 2 yrs. Look at Ottawa 67's under Brian Kilrea, they had finished either 1st or 2nd excluding this year since 1994-95. Also Guelph Storm had consistant solid seasons after expansion stage. Reverse for North Bay Centenniels were never able to develop players despite constantly finish with poor record. Oshawa Generals, their record had been disappointing or at best mediocore for the last 7 yrs, until now they are starting to have potential solid players.

Are you kidding me? Development is everything in junior hockey. In order to develop a solid OHL player, you need a good coach. A good coach has the ability to deveope a mediocore player into solid OHL player (not necessarily NHL draftee), but a bad coach can wreck the development of a great player with high potential. You need both good coaching staff & team management overall to develop OHL players & become a solid team.
