Posted by Hockey Fan First on 7/13/2006, 5:04 am The best Major games were those against the Mississauga Ice Dogs. The Dogs will be moving and with it will be one of the best rivalries in the OHL. It was just taking off and the Ice Dogs moving away from the GTA is comparable for me as a junior hockey fan to when the The GTA is in fact losing a team with It's financially prudent for Melnyk but it sure leaves a big hole for the OHL in Toronto proper...I only wished that a shared arrangement with U of T and Varsity Arena could have been worked out...sad day, sad day. p.s - It does not make sence that the only 2 remaining teams among the three play within a few blocks of each other. I still see trouble in Brampton and a possible backlash to the Majors in Missy... the Ice Dogs have developed a genuine hate on for the Majors over the years and must now come to the realization that it will be their home team in a couple of years.

What sounds like something gained is in fact, IMO, something lost. Hey great, Melnyk has found the Majors a new home...at the cost of it's best rival and what amounts to a move out of Toronto and into the burbs, even if it's only half an hour away.
Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles. Both teams even played a playoff series vs each other with the Dogs even getting to the finals.
Toronto having no central presence...the big loser is the OHL who will have no downtown presence and will have its 2 GTA teams really get lost in the media coverage...If you thought the media coverage was bad with all 3 teams...a non-downtown team will really see an indifferent attitude from the media.
