Yes, the motion picture soundtrack is different. I do not know of a version with Mr.McGillin singing, however, at the Theatre they sell the original cast CD, with Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton, it is wonderful. James Romick is the understudy for Phantom, so if Mr.McGillin didn't play it there is a good chance that Mr.Romick did and he is magnificent.
