Posted by Laura I happen to be that "new" generation people speak of, though I like things like The Phantom in Manhattan, and I like the music to Woman in White. I have a love of theatre whether it is classic or new. But I am unusual. I know other people my age would avoid Phantom in Manhattan, because they think Leroux is a God and the book did not do justice to the original, I think it was pretty well written, if anything it was better written than Leroux. I hope Webber is aware of what the "new" generation thinks of his idea and puts it into consideration.

What is funny, is that a lot of the current cast fears the idea of the sequel, just as much as the fans do. I know that something like this could hurt POTO more than help it. Webber has been known to close down good play, example Cats, and replace them with other things the close in less than a year, Woman in White. Though things like Woman in White appeal to a literary crowd, that enjoys reading and well written plays, most "new" Broadway goers are in it for the thrills and the romance.
