Michael was not in the cast that performed January 2006, which is when Phantom had its record breaking performance. He had left Phantom I think in 2001 to perform in other things. He was on the tour from June 2005-August 2005 and then he did Woman in White from November 2005 til it closed.
He returned to Phantom March 3, 2006 which was after the record breaking performance. He did just leave again about a week ago. Michael comes and goes a lot. He would have been a lot better than Tim, I agree, but he had not rejoined the cast yet.
