Posted by Laura The play starts with the women in Guildo’s life singing about their encounters with the famous Italian director. There is his wife, the prostitute, and the actress. During the course of this play he goes between these women trying to find an idea for a movie, that he has to have a script for by the end of the week. He finally decides to do a movie based on his life, it is a musical. It is based on Casonova, since he is indeed a Casanova. The three women are insulted during the production and Guildo spins out of control. In the end the audience wonders if the pistle shot was real or just part of the movie. They have been drawn into Guildo’s fantasy world. Michael’s performance was wonderful. His Italian accent fit the role he could have easily passed for an Italian director. He gets to put his dancing skills to the test as well. He does a quick rendition of the tango and many erotic dances as the women twirl around him. Guildo’s Song really put his talents to the test, when he had to do a duet with himself. Being a fan of Michael after Phantom, I have never seen him do anything so silly. Every facial expression had the audience laughing. When he did the monkey dance, followed by the train it was obvious that he was enjoying himself. This part suited his voice very well. The songs were beautiful, and he harmonized with the rest of the cast very well. For those who have seen the poster, yes he did get a new haircut, and he does wear black for the entire play. When he cries, as his life spirals out of control his tears really fall from his eyes. It made me want to cry as well. Nine gives Michael the well deserved chance to be in the spot light that he deserves. For those that have seen him in the role of Raoul, you are in for a real treat. This role brings out Michael’s comedic side more than his daring young nobleman character we are used to. He is a very convincing lover to all of the women. His sensual dances are stunning. Michael retains his smooth actions throughout his performance, and like the other reviews have stated he is on stage the entire show. This was a great show it is a shame that they cannot make a cast recording of this group. They were really spectacular. I was drawn into the show from the moment the curtain rose. This was a wonderful triumph for Michael, and I hope that he gets another chance to do something so amazing! Michael and Raoul, my puppy Michael and I after John Tartaglia got him to come out of the stage door. I still cannot believe that I went to the show the same night as John and he remembered me.
