I appeared on episode 3392, January 24, 1978.
The Chapman & Howle taping. Joe Garagiola was Host. The panel were: Kitty Carlisle; Peggy Cass; Bill Cullen; Nipsey Russell
The Subject was Jim Howle, Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus Clown and The only Official Circus Clown Artist.
I'm William McPhillips, at that time Playwright.
The third person was an advertizing agency Accounts Manager.
Kitty Carlisle thought I had and extraordinarily sad/happy face. And Peggy Cass just liked me. So I got two votes and the whole audience.
Bill Cullen thought I was an Agency man. Nipsey Russell caught me on the location of the Animal Menagerie as you enter Madison Square Garden. Ironically I had never been to RBBB Circus at the Garden.
Joe had a fierce cold that morning and maybe a hangover from a major sporting event in the South West that Sunday. My show was the Tuesday episode, and, of course all five shows were taped Monday. So as each show was taped it was another day and Joe's head had to seem to clear with each sequence. He was quite impressive.
I was a fool not to bluff Nipsey Russell, but to tell the truth it didn't seem right.
I have a list of the original broadcasts across the country, but never got to see the show. I'd like to get a copy sometime.
