Posted by Barbara Jacobs-Smith My show was week 14, episode # 014-4, seq. #69. I was an impostor for Linda Warehime (sp?) who was the base sweeper for the Baltimore Orioles during the 1969 World Series when they played against NY. Thank you for providing this opportunity for me to share my fond memories of TO TELL THE TRUTH and read those of others. Sincerely,

There are a couple of things I remember specifically. I remember being called to the school office during my freshman year, to take the long distance call from Roseanne Kahn (the casting director, I think) asking me if I knew anything about baseball, which I did not. She asked me if I could learn in a week, which I said I could (and did).
I remember traveling from northern New Jersey to Manhattan on perhaps the day prior to taping. We sat in a large conference room sitting around a large t
tab with the real "Linda" to pick her brain for details, which we were also to commit to memory.
I also got to miss a couple of days of school. I had a total blast!
I remember finding that the entire week was shot in one day, which surprised me, so the other two Lindas and I went exploring in the neighborhood around the theater during lunch and while the shows for Monday through Wednesday were being taped. It was a much more innocent time in NYC. Three 15-year-old girls could spend a couple of hours walking around Manhattan without worrying.
The first was Gary Moore making the mistake of opening the show by saying, "Welcome to 'What's My Line.'" The audience broke up.
The second was receiving two votes (the real Linda also got two votes). I pretended to make a mistake when asked, "Who won the first game of the World Series?" I said, "We, er...the Orioles."
I think it was Peggy Cass who cited that "slip of the tongue" as her reason for voting for contestant number 2, ME!
I can't remember how much money we won, but I do know it was a lot for a 15 year-old kid. I used it to buy a maroon "Maxi" coat at Bloomingdales! I was hot stuff in that baby!
As you have probably guessed, I am wondering if there is anyway to get a copy of my show. Please let me know.
By the way, my mother was on episode # 025-3, week 25,seq. 123 also in 1969. She was an impostor for a primitive, musical, instrument expert. She was defeated by the ampersand (&). In her nervous rush to come up with an answer when asked what is an “ampersand,” my mother quickly replied, “An instrument from Peru,” or some other equally remote country.
