I thought I'd finally share some things I've used from this awesome sight. I work with middle school students with a large range in abilities. I have purchased colored legal size envelopes from an office supply store when they went on clearance. For example, after Christmas I bought green, red, and snowflake patterned envelopes. Around Thanksgiving I bought orange ones. I then glued the picture board from the Seasonal Games for Artic. & Lang. to the front of the envelopes.Make sure to keep the envelope flap closed. I laminated the envelopes as well. This makes the activity durable and easy to grab and go!
I have also used the calendar time sheet extensively this year.I glued the sheets to card stock, laminated them, and have students use a dry erase marker on them. This way they get a lot of practice on this important skill! I made a set for my moderate-severe teacher too. She loves it! Later, you may want a "hard copy" where a student writes on a copy of the calendar using a pen or pencil.
Last of all, I love the Valentine Heart Match! My older students do to! I do have the foam hearts as mentioned on the materials exchange page, but I don't always use them. I cut out hearts from construction paper to match some of the colors in that ever popular heart candy we see this time of year. I tape a few of the paper hearts on each board. The students are each given a pile of the candy hearts to use for tic-tac-toe or cover-all.
What they don't use they eat! It's one of the few times I use candy, but the older students love this.
