I recently used the Adjective Activity that was posted as an expnasion lesson for some of the students on my caseload. I work in an intermediate school (grades 4-6) from LI, NY. I used the Adjective Picture Cues as a bulletin board activity to "build a picture". Once words were generated for each descriptive category (mood/behavior, size, color, how it looks/smells/feels/tastes, and what it does), the students played a guessing game. When it was a players turn, that person would post a description for each of the 5 categories on the bulletin board next to its' corresponding cue card. The other students would have to guess what the player was describing. Once the students had guessed correctly, all students would have to write a corresponding sentence and draw a picture. As a daily activity, students have to submit a written guess of the description posted on the bulletin board. This activity has helped my students with topic maintenance and has expanded their conversational skills. It has also helped students with word finding problems and those who typically have difficulty asking questions to gain information and clarfification.
